Management
and Operational Analysis
Our work includes evaluation of management and operational aspects of
programs and projects.
Examples
of management and operational analysis include:
Akron Civic Theater: Akron, OH - The Akron
Civic Theatre is many things: to the citizens of Akron and northeast Ohio
it is an important part of their history; to the operators it is a theatre
that - however historically significant - is physically obsolete, and
not currently economically viable; to theater historians it is one of
the remaining examples of a significant theater type; and to its audiences
it is a theater to be cherished. Over the years, the Civic Theatre has
gone through many transformations and evaluations of its future. Most
recently, the idea of relocating the Theatre as part of a new cultural
district was evaluated in a preliminary way. While the cultural district
project has changed, the idea of creating a critical mass of theaters
at the new location remains a potentially viable alternative. As part
of a team, OTJM assisted in evaluating alternatives for the Theater, and
developed an implementation plan for the preferred alternative. The Office
of Thomas J. Martin managed the team which included architects, a cost
consultant, a theatre design consultant, theatre management consultant,
and decorative arts consultant.
Florida
Aquarium Repositioning: Tampa, FL
- The Florida Aquarium opened in 1995, and did not meet its projected
level of attendance. We were a part of a team that made recommendations
on ways to improve the visitor experience and increase attendance. This
included evaluating new exhibits, marketing programs, and the impact which
new nearby tourist-related development will have on visitation.
